How often should the cistern be checked and what to do if it is damaged?

Outside the protection area for water sources there are intervals of 6 and 12 years (depending on whether the cistern is protected or not). Within a protected area, 3, 6 or 12 years apply (depending on whether the cistern is protected and whether it has secondary protection).

If the cistern has rust damage, you can usually fix it, usually we can offer that service when we are still on site. We use a type-approved metal putty called Belzona, it is expensive to purchase but the application is simple and compared to old traditional methods, the total costs are significantly lower.
